Mount Field National Park
Only a 10 minute drive from here is the Derwent Valley’s greatest drawcard, Mount Field National Park . The Park is the oldest National Park in Australia and contains the iconic Russell Falls , which is reached via an easy 20 minute track. Further along you can continue on to Horseshoe Falls, but this requires a little more effort with a climb up the rocks, but is worth the trouble. The 16km drive up the road behind the Visitor Centre to Lake Dobson offers terrific views and a variety of walks. The Rangers at the Parks Information Centre can help with maps and routes that might suit your level of walking.
